The Commercial taxes Department is organized territorially into Divisions and Circles.

The CTD has 20 Divisions . The City of Hyderabad is made of 13 Divisions. A Division is headed by a Joint Commissioner.

Each Division in turn comprise of Circles headed by a Assistant Commissioner. Typically, there may be 5-11 circles per Division.There are 121 Circles and 28 STU's (Strategic Tax Payer Units) and 4 LTU's(Large Tax Payer Units) in the State of Telangana.
